Lakeview Golf Course
Lakeview Hole-In-One Club
Jack Butcher has been looking for his very first hole-in-one
for a long time, fifty some years. Today, playing his 18th hole
out at Lakeview Golf Course, his Ping Zing 8 iron hit a Top
Flite XL3000 golf ball with just enough get-up-and-go to land on
the green, roll about 20 feet and drop over the lip and into the
hole. Bingo. The looking is over and done with. Jack was joined
on his back nine following Senior League play by Rex and Kenny
Hudson and Jack Lents. Jack was left speechless by his
accomplishment while Rex said that he wished he had been
looking. Jack Lents had an 'Oh, golly durn' as he and Rex
started the hole two strokes up on Kenny and the new guy in the
Lakeview Hole-in-One Club. The ace is the first one of the year
at Lakeview.

Dave
Strange Bags Another Hole-in-One
Dave Strange, one of Lakeview's seniors, played in and amongst
the Tuesday Boyz this past Tuesday, and got himself a second
hole-in-one for the year. His 5 wood shot off the tee at #3 hit the
green, bounced once and then dropped into the cup. This is Dave's
third career hole-in-one, second this year, and was witnessed by
Mike Anderson, Albert Kavanaugh, Jim Fox and John Walker who were
coming off of #5 while playing in the Tuesday Boyz final event of
the season.

D.J.
Harder Rocks with Ace at #7!
On a hot and steamy afternoon this August 8th of 2007, D.J.
Harder forsook the comforts of home and got his grandma, Clara
Harder, to take him golfing out at Lakeview. And what good fortune
might come of that? Well, how about a hole-in-one just for the
heck of it. D.J. struck his Callaway Big Bertha Red golf ball with
his Cleveland Hi-Bore 8 iron, watched it hit on the fringe of #7,
bounce on the green and roll into the hole. Easy as one, two,
three. D.J. and his grandma did a little bit of celebrating out
there next to the lake to mark the occasion. D.J. becomes the
tenth golfer to gather in an ace this year at Lakeview Golf
Course. How sweet it is.

Dave Strange's Ace
During Senior League play this past Thursday, a great golfing moment
came for senior Dave Strange as he stood on #7 tee box and watched
his yellow (green to some) ball bounce in front of the green and
then onto the green and then roll rather slowly across the green and
into the cup. Playing partner Diane Bird hollered out as the ball
finally disappeared, "Hole in One!" and exchanged high
fives with the broadly smiling new ace here at Lakeview. Plenty of
witnesses as Wilma Bateman and Clyde Wake were also there at #7; and
watching the goings-on at #8 tee box were Bob Norris, Sam Potts,
Chuck White and Mike Bird. This all happened just after league play
started here this morning and continues the hole-in-one madness here
this year. That makes nine since Terry Padgett's opening ace on
Tuesday, April 17th. And we're still counting. By the way,
this makes Dave's second ace at Lakeview as he threw one down back
on April 8 of 2005. He thus joins James Hager and Ron Wilde
with multiple aces here at Lakeview.

D.J. Moffatt Aces #7
The break in the weekly hole-in-one antics lasted less than twelve
hours as D.J. Moffatt from French Lick threw one down at #7 earlier
this morning. Playing with Tom Babbitt and Bob and Rog Phillips, D.J.
used his Cleveland sand wedge to loft the ball onto the green and
into the cup. Once striking the ball, he immediately announced to
his partners that it was going in. And, by golly, it did. Sweetness.
The shot was witnessed by four Bloomfield ladies up on #8 tee box
and also by Bill and Norma Harp next in line on #7.
June 22, 2007
On Friday, June 22nd, Judy Walker watched her pink Maxfli Noodle
ball land on the green and roll towards the pin, heard it hit the
pin but could not tell whether it dropped in the hole. She told her
playing partner, June Eckerle, that she might have just got a
hole-in-one. Once on the green, they both looked in the hole and saw
the ball nestled nicely in the bottom. High fives and big
congratulations. The ace was Judy's first and she continues
Lakeview's streak of hole-in-ones, this being the sixth week in a
row that a player has come up with an outstanding shot from the tee
box that found the bottom of the cup. Judy, you're an Ace now.
Welcome to the Hole-in-One Club.

SCOTT MCATEE GETS ACE AT
LAKEVIEW GOLF COURSE
Scott McAtee, 15 year old son of
Steve and Stacy McAtee of Odon, measured the 115 yards to the hole
at Lakeview's #7 just perfectly about 6pm on Saturday, June 16,
2007.. Using his
Ping
eye 2 pitching wedge, he struck his Callaway Warbird ball and
watched as it sailed directly at the stick. Playing partner Matt
Tucker said: "That looks like a good shot". It bounced
once on the other side, spun back and dropped into the hole. Scott,
Matt, and Clinton Burch, the third member of the party, were
momentarily stunned at this very nice turn of events but recovered
quickly enough to congratulate Scott and to spread the good news.
Indeed Scott had a very nice shot and now joins the ranks of those
fortunate few with golfing aces.

DEREK GILBERTSON GETS ACE AT
LAKEVIEW
For the fourth Saturday in a row, a player found an ace here at
Lakeview Golf Course. This week it was Derek Gilbertson, a 26 year
old Loogootee golfer, who did the striking of the ball that found
the hole. Playing with the Dave Wininger scramble team, he watched
his shot on #7 bounce once on the green, hit the stick, bounce back
and to the left, then spin back into the hole. Holy Cow! Is this
getting unreal enough yet? For the record, Derek was using his
Acuity gap wedge and hitting a Pro V1 from about 115 yards. He also
thought twice about his club selection and actually went back and
got out the gap wedge.

BECKY HAND GETS ACE AT LAKEVIEW
On
Saturday, June 2, 2007
, in a foursome that included her husband, Philip Cline, and friends
Kathy and Alyn Zollers, Becky Hand from
Vincennes
teed it up on the 9th tee box at Lakeview Golf Course in
Loogootee
,
Indiana
, with the idea that she had to hurry as the storms with thunder and
lightning were heading in from the west. Taking no time at all, she
set the pink ribboned Titleist HT 90 ball on the tee, reared back
with her Titleist 3 wood, and smacked it with a swing that sent the
ball off and directly into the hole. Slam Dunk! This feat surprised
everyone in the party, none more than Becky Hand, who now has her
very first hole-in-one. Becky’s ace makes it the third Saturday in
a row that a golfer has holed one out from the tee box.
In the previous two weeks, Dave Wininger and Bob Walton each
got an ace on Lakeview’s #2.
May 26, 2007
BOB WALTON GETS UNUSUAL ACE AT
LAKEVIEW
Bob Walton did a most unusual thing on Saturday, May 26: Playing his
Community League round with son Tyler, and fellow golfers daughter
Raven and her husband Nick, he surprised himself and everybody else
in his party when his grandson Tucker went over to see if his 240
yard tee shot had gone in the hole at Lakeview's par 4 #2 green.
Tucker looked in, then looked back at PaPaw and said,
"Yup". So, here we go again. It was just a week ago (May
19) that Dave Wininger threw one down at #2 as well. Now Bob Walton
finds a way to duplicate this rare double eagle in a matter of days.
Bob and son Tyler finished their round at 39 and 37. Pretty
good shooting by this dynamic duo. Also, this is the first
hole-in-one for both Bob Walton and the Community League.

DAVE
WININGER ACES #2 AT LAKEVIEW
During the Manager's Saturday
Scramble, Dave Wininger stuck one close for a birdie on #1 then
watched his drive on #2 bounce just in front of the stick and then
disappear for an unusual hole-in-one on a par 4. He becomes
the third Lakeview golfer in the last several years to accomplish
this rare event, joining Ryan Johnson (2005) and Mike Muessig
(1999).
April 17, 2007
TERRY PADGETT
GETS ACE DURING LEAGUE PLAY
On Tuesday evening, April 17, 2007, Terry
Padgett finished league play in style by holing his tee shot on
#9. Terry's comment: "It bounced on the green
once and hopped in the hole. After seeing how close the hole prize
marker was, I knew someone was going to be awfully
disappointed."
October 6, 2006
BILL TOWNSLEY
GETS 3RD CAREER ACE
Vincennes
’ Bill Townsley got his third career hole-in-one at Lakeview Golf
Course in Loogootee on
Friday, October 6, 2006
. Using a Ping 9 iron,
his ProVI ball landed on Lakeview’s #7 green about ten feet from
the hole and rolled on in. Bill
mentioned at the clubhouse that this was not only his third
hole-in-one, but that each one has been accomplished with a
different set of clubs (sounds like a fourth set is in order).
Quite an accomplishment for an accomplished golfer.
September 3, 2006
LORETTA
ROACH GETS HOLE-IN-ONE AT LAKEVIEW GOLF COURSE
On September 3, 2006, a beautiful Sunday
afternoon at Lakeview Golf Course, Loretta Roach of Odon got her
first hole-in-one as a golfer. Playing
with her husband, Herb, Loretta used her Callaway 5 iron to hit her
Nike ball the 100 plus yards to the green at #7 and watched it land
just off the green and then run into the hole.
On reporting her achievement back at the clubhouse, Loretta
was still in a cloud nine stage and said that she couldn’t do
anything after getting her hole-in-one.
On being asked about the ball she used, the “swoosh’ as
she calls it, it was lost with her very next shot, an errant one off
of #8 tee box. No
matter; she left the clubhouse all aglow with her new found status
as a proud member of the Lakeview Hole-in-One Club.

Mike Guinn
Scores a Hole-In-One at Lakeview
On Sunday, October 2nd, 2005, Mike Guinn achieved a goal
he didn’t expect to reach for many years.
Reluctantly playing a second nine holes because of a sore
back, Mike’s attitude did a 180 degree turn after what transpired
at hole #3, his 12th of the day. Playing
at Lakeview Golf Course in Loogootee with his brother, Mark, and
knowing that he would need a stronger club because of his back, he
pulled a Cobra 4-iron from his bag on the 149 yard hole #3.
He managed a limited swing and hit his Top Flite XL 3000 ball
straight to the green. Both
Mike and Mark heard the ball hit the green, and could see that it
was 5 ft. from the hole, but then they heard it hit the flagstick,
and finally heard the lovely sound of the ball falling into the cup.
A hole-in-one! Mike
turned to his brother and said, disbelieving, “Did that go in?!”
Congratulations, Mike, it most certainly did!
June 7, 2005
UNUSUAL
HOLE-IN-ONE FOR RYAN JOHNSON AT LAKEVIEW!
On
Tuesday, June 7th, 2005
, Loogootee’s Ryan Johnson hit a drive off of the par 4 #2 tee box
at Lakeview Golf Course while playing in the Tuesday Men’s League
with fellow golfers James Hager, Mark Jones and JJ Jones.
Wonder of wonder, the ball went into the hole 260 some yards
down the fairway. Johnson
joins at least one other golfer to get a hole-in-one on #2, that
being Mike Muessig who had one fall for him in 1999.
Ryan, not believing Hager when told where the ball was, did a
pretty good
Toyota
jump for joy when he saw that it really was in the hole.
Congratulations, Ryan, for your very unusual achievement!
May 8, 2005
ALBERT
KAVANAUGH SCORES
A HOLE-IN-ONE
AT LAKEVIEW
On
Sunday, May 8th, 2005
, Albert Kavanaugh came out to
Lakeview Golf Course for a 9-hole round.
Upon returning to the clubhouse, he met his nephew, John
Kavanaugh, who persuaded Albert to play another nine holes.
That was a propitious decision for Albert, for when he got to
hole #7, he hit a TiTech golf ball with an 8-iron off the tee which
landed right in the hole. His
witnesses, Alan Burch and John Kavanaugh, were delighted to see
Albert erupt with a big, loud “whoopee!”.
Earlier in the year, Albert had gotten a hole-in-one while
practicing, but he was disappointed to hear, that because there were
no witnesses, it was not official.
Well, Albert, you’re official now…
Congratulations!

Dave Strange Gets a Hole-In-One
Friday, April 8th, one of the nicer days this Spring
of 2005, brought joy and amazement to a 72-year old golfer at
Lakeview Golf Course in Loogootee. Dave Strange, accompanied by Fred
Elliott, was teeing off at hole #7. Using his 5-iron, Dave sent his
ball straight and true toward the green, and told Fred, "That
ball looks hot!" It bounced once and Dave was fairly certain
the ball had rolled on past the hole. As he searched for his ball
beyond the green, Fred found it in the cup. A first time ever
hole-in-one for Dave! (This could be one of those things the boys
talk about at the Dairy Queen every morning.)
August 22, 2004
Adam Schutte
scores Hole-In-One at Lakeview Golf Course
It was a perfect day for golf on
Sunday, August 22nd, 2004
. Temperatures hovered
near 80 degrees and there was a slight breeze at
noon
when Adam Schutte got his first ever hole in one.
He was on the course with his dad, Scott, and sister, Ashley.
He used his Tommy Armour pitching wedge and a Titleist Pro V1
ball off the #7 tee. The
ball flew toward the green, fell and stopped about 10 feet behind
the flag, and then slowly rolled back, and rolled back some more,
and then disappeared into the hole.
Now, that ball had some spin on it!
Congratulations, Adam.

CORNELIUS GETS
ACE AT LAKEVIEW GOLF COURSE
Morris Cornelius of Elnora, a long-time golfer
at Lakeview Golf Course in
Loogootee
,
Indiana
, who says he is 47 going on 75, scored a hole-in-one on the 7th
green on
Saturday, April 3rd, 2004
. Morris was enjoying a
round with Leroy Streepy and they thought that Morris’ Top Flite
XL golf ball, powered by his pitching wedge, had rolled past the
hole, but found to their delight that it had dropped into the cup.
Congratulations, Morris!

Jack
Lents Scores Hole-in-One at Lakeview
On
this unusually mild Friday afternoon, Loogootee’s Jack Lents
showed playing partners Richard Swayze and Mike Bird how easy it is
to get a hole-in-one. Playing
the 7th hole at Lakeview Golf Course, Jack used his Ping
pitching wedge to loft his Titleist DT golf ball up into the air and
on its way to the pin on the green 100 yards away. The threesome watched the lovely arc of the flight, the
landing on the green, the three hops, a short run, and then the
disappearance as the ball dropped into the hole.
Hey, Jack: congratulations on one of those sweeter moments in
a golfer’s life.
October 5, 2003
Mark
Jeffers Scores Hole-in-One at Lakeview
Sunday,
October 5th, 2003 was a sunny, windy and unexpectedly
mild day.
That was the day that Mark “Short” Jeffers made an
amazing hole-in-one.
He and his fellow golfers, Cara Allen and Max Brown, were on
the 115-yard hole #7 at Lakeview Golf Course.
Using his Taylor Made pitching wedge and a Titleist Pro V1,
and taking the wind into account, Mark sent his ball flying.
They saw it land and roll toward the hole, but did not
realize until they were on their way down the cart path that the
ball had disappeared.
Either it had stopped on the lip and the wind pushed it into
the hole, or it was resting against the flagstick and dropped into
the hole when the wind moved the flagstick.
A little cooperation from Mother Nature never hurts.
Congratulations, Mark!
August 19, 2003
Larry
Sutton "Slam Dunks" Hole=in-One
It was one of those
normal southern Indiana hot and steamy nights on Tuesday, August 19,
2003, when the 42 local golfers showed up at Lakeview Golf Course in
Loogootee for their regular league outing.
Who knew this was to be the day that Larry “Doc” Sutton
got two hole prizes? Who
thought he would share low net honors with a score of 31?
Who could imagine he would also make a hole-in-one on the
149-yard hole #3? This
was Larry’s day all the way. He
was playing with his partner, Brent Courter, and with the team of
Keith Parsons and Bill Carrico.
Using his Wilson Fat Shaft 7-iron, he smashed a Titleist DT90
Distance golf ball into the air.
The players heard the ball hit the flagstick, but did not
know where it went until they approached the green.
Larry was the one who went over and saw his ball nestled in
the cup. His comment:
“IT WENT IN!” Whoops and hollers created excitement all around.
Congratulations, Larry!
June 14, 2003
Hager
Gets his 2nd Ace at Lakeview Golf Course
Loogootee’s James Hager just kept going until
he got it right out at Lakeview Golf Course on Saturday, June 14th.
Playing his 4th round of the day, he holed out on
the par three 3rd from 150 yards.
With his dad and brother watching, Hager’s ball landed just
beyond the pin, did a little dance and then spun back into the hole.
For Hager, a May graduate from
Loogootee
High School
, this was the second hole-in-one of his young golfing career.
April 10, 2003
Bob
Gilley Opens 2003
Fifty-Plus Season with Ace
Loogootee’s
Bob Gilley opened the Fifty-Plus league season at Lakeview Golf
Course on Thursday, April 10th, by getting the 2nd
ace of his career. Playing
with Don Lannan, Jim Bateman and Jack Lents, Gilley used his
pitching wedge to cover the 100 yards to the pin on #7 green for his
hole-in-one. Congrats,
Bob!

Golfer
Wilde Gets 2nd Career Hole-In-One
Ron
Wilde has made the year 2002 a very special one.
Along with finding a bride, a major event for this long time
bachelor, he got himself not one but two holes-in-one this year,
more firsts for this long time golfer.
The second hole-in-one came on Monday, November 18th,
as he and Mike Bird played at Lakeview Golf Course in Loogootee.
Choosing a Hogan Apex 9 iron to combat the swirling winds, he
and Bird watched amazed as his Strata golf ball landed right of the
hole on the #9 green and bounced, then ran its way nicely to the
center of the cup. Ah, such sweetness. Congratulations on all your
firsts, Ron.
Mark Potts Gets First
Career Hole-In-One
Sunday, September 15, 2002
, was a very special day for young Loogootee golfer, Mark Potts.
He was just completing his round with his dad, Greg.
He was using a brand new Precept Lady ball, one of a sleeve
he had won as a hole prize in the Club Tournament the day before.
Lining up at the blue tees, Mark struck the ball with his
7-iron. It flew up into
the air, traveled 166 yards and fell into the hole.
It was a perfect “slam-dunk”, as onlooker James Hager
described it. It is not
likely that hole #9 will be Mark’s least favorite hole any more.
Congratulations, Mark!

Super Senior
Clyde Wake Gets 1st Hole-in-One
at Lakeview Golf Course
Clyde Wake of Loogootee, 76 years young, has
found his golf game. To
prove it, he delighted himself and his playing partners (Rex Hudson,
Joe Gray and Bob Elliott) on Thursday, August 1st, by
swinging his #5 driver to send his ProStaff ball 132 yards toward
hole #3 at Lakeview. Landing
before the hole, the ball bounced a few times and disappeared.
This marks the second time within the last year that a super
senior has made his first career hole-in-one (eighty-something Lloyd
Mosby did it last August 30th).
The word quickly spread among the other 30 some golfers
during this regular Fifty-Plus League event.
Congratulations to Super
Clyde
!
Phister Gets Ace
at Lakeview Golf Course
On a beautiful, warm Monday morning (
June 3, 2002
), Leon Pfister of Jasper had one of those golden
golfing experiences when he aced hole #3 at Lakeview in Loogootee.
Using his #7 wood and a Nike ball, Pfister’s 150 yard shot
from the tee box bounded onto the green and dropped into the hole as
he and his three partners watched with suddenly keen attention,
followed immediately by a sense of well being and accomplishment.
This is Pfister’s second hole-in-one, his first being at
Oakland
City
. Nice way
to start off the week,
Leon
.
May Day 2002 Hole-In-One for
Ron Wilde
RON
WILDE GETS HIS 1ST HOLE-IN-ONE AT LAKEVIEW
One
of the most exciting things to happen to any golfer is the dropping
of a tee shot into a distant hole for a hole-in-one.
On Wednesday, May 1st, Ron Wilde of Shoals, a long
time golfer, had such a moment for the first time when his tee shot,
into a strong head wind on #7, hit the pole and fell straight down.
The celebration was delayed as neither Ron nor his playing
partner were sure that the ball hadn't bounded off in some other
direction.
But, on reaching the green, the little white ball was sitting
"oh so prettily" in the big white cup.
Wilde celebration!
March 2002 Hole-In-One
for James Hager
Never
daunted by cold or rainy weather, a foursome made up of James and
Josh Hager, along with Weston and Mike Muessig, arrived at Lakeview
Golf Course on
Saturday, March 23rd, 2002
. Josh had his family's video camera that day, hoping to
assist James by taping his swing. Josh recorded James's first
ever hole-in-one on the 9th hole at
4:30
in the afternoon. James drove 120 yards with his
Ping
sand wedge, and they all watched as the Top Flight XL 2000 ball
landed on the green near the pin and nicely rolled into the hole.
Elation and celebration followed.
November
Hole-In-One for Nancy Stoll
On Sunday morning, November 11, 2001, Nancy
Stoll had the surprise of her life when she found her Callaway
"Rule 35" ball resting against the flagstick on Hole #9.
She had teed off using a Mitsushiba 9-iron, and knew she had
made it the 100 yards onto the green, but had no idea her ball was
teetering above the hole. The
ball fell in when the flagstick was removed, so according to USGA
Rule 17-4, her shot was deemed a genuine hole-in-one. Congratulations, Nancy!
Hole-In-One
for Lloyd Mosby
On Thursday, August 30th, Lloyd
Mosby, a dedicated golfer for 26 years, topped his 2001 season with
a hole-in-one on Lakeview's beautiful lakeside #7 hole.
In the midst of an 18-hole individual tournament for players
50 and older, Lloyd surprised himself and his fellow golfers by
putting his Top Flite XL into the hole with a Precision Series IV #7
iron. Though Lloyd
claims he did not see the ball drop, he happily accepted the wonder
and praise of his playing partners, Dale DeLong, Don Lannan and Joe
Gray.
Poirier Gets
Lakeview's First Hole-In-One in 2001
On Thursday, April 19th, 17 year old
Philip Poirier of Loogootee scored the first hole-in-one for 2001 at
Lakeview Golf Course. Using
a 3-iron, Philip drove his Top Flite XL golf ball into the cup on #7
green while practicing with the Loogootee varsity and junior varsity
golf teams.
Robert Graber of Montgomery
The most recent hole-in-one at Loogootee's Lakeview
was celebrated by Robert Graber of Montgomery as he drove his Top
Flite ball directly into the hole on the #7 green. His golfing
partner Johnnie Graber witnessed this exciting event on Sunday, June
4th.
First for 2000
The first hole-in-one for 2000 at Lakeview was
celebrated by Pat Sinnott, Jr. of Cannelburg. Using a Big Bertha
sand wedge and an Ultra Metal Matrix balata ball on the lakeside
115-yard hole #7, Pat watched his dream come true on Sunday, April
9. The feat was witnessed by Brett Chestnut of Montgomery. The
clubhouse now sports a beautiful walnut panel featuring engraved
brass plaques for each person achieving this exciting shot of a
lifetime.
October 27, 1999
Lakeview Manager Scores Hole-In-One
A bright, sunny October afternoon (the 27th in 1999)
found Lakeview Golf Course's
manager, Mike Bird, enjoying an 18-hole round with member Ron Wilde.
Facing the sun on the 149-yard hole #3, they were unable to see
Mike's Pinnacle Equalizer golf ball roll into the hole after his
drive with a King Cobra II 6-iron. Congratulations and celebrations
followed their spying the "lost" ball in the hole!
Jordan Hawkins of Loogootee Bags Hole-In-One at
Lakeview
On Sunday, October 24th, Jordan Hawkins was persuaded at the
last minute to play in a golf scramble with some friends. In
spite of not having played much golf this season, he amazed everyone
with a hole-in-one on Lakeview's #7 hole. Using a Northwestern
pitching wedge, Jordan's easy swing brought his Dunlop DDH golf ball
onto the green where it obediently trickled into the hole.
Niehaus Sinks Hole-In-One at Loogootee Lakeview
On Friday, September 24th, 1999, Jim Niehaus scored a hole-in-one on
the beautiful 115-yard #7 hole with one swing of his 9-iron.
Refusing to be distracted by the splendid view of the lake and its
resident waterfowl, Jim made it look easy to conquer this narrow
fairway and sand trap protected green.
Louisville Golfer Gets Hole-In-One at Lakeview
Ron Decker of Louisville took home a happy memory for a souvenir
when he got a hole-on-one on the 166- yard 9th hole at Lakeview on
Sunday, September 5, 1999. Using a Striker 7-iron and a Srixon ball,
Ron drove downhill from the blue teebox above the lake, ignoring all
the visual distractions, over trees and across the spillway and cart
path onto the 9th green. As the ball dropped in the hole, Ron and
his friends erupted with shared jubilation that could be heard all
over the course.
Mike Muessig Fires Unusual Hole-in-One at Lakeview
Golf Course
Loogootee resident Mike Muessig scored an unusual
Hole-in-One at Lakeview Golf Course on Sunday, August 15, when his
Controller Driving Iron shot, off the 260 yard par 4 second hole
teebox, found the bottom of the cup rather than the more usual
water-filled ditch running next to the hole. Playing with Brian
Enkoff, and after a fruitless search of the surrounding terrain,
Mike was 'tickled pink' when he found his ball in the hole.
Congratulations, Mike!
Midseason Hole-In-One for Paco Medina
Lakeview Golf Course member and frequent all-day golfer Paco Medina
scored an exciting hole-in-one on Wednesday, August 4, 1999. Using a
Square Two pitching wedge, Paco struck a MaxFli golf ball only once
to drop it into the cup at the 115 yard, par-three hole #7. His golf
buddies will be envious forever, because Paco won't let them forget
it. Paco is 14 years old.
Alan Erler Finds Hole-In-One at Lakeview Golf Course
The #7 hole at Lakeview measures 115 yards from tee to green, with a
fairway bordered by beautiful West Boggs Lake on one side and the
earthen dam on the other. A par-three hole, it holds hopes of
holes-in-one for many golfers, an outcome seldom realized. Alan
Erler of Loogootee became the envy of his friends when he dropped
his golf ball into the cup with one stroke of his Wilson 1200 nine
iron on Wednesday, April 14, 1999. Read this and weep; he is only 13
years old; watch out, Tiger!
St. Nicholas' Day Brings Good Luck to Bob Miller
December 6, 1998, hardly sounds like a favorable day for golf,
let alone a lucky day. But for Bob Miller , who played nine holes
that afternoon with the Montgomery Miller Gang, it meant a
hole-in-one on #9. This par-three hole is deceptively difficult,
because the blue tees are atop the dam that surrounds West Boggs
Lake and golfers have to clear the spillway to hit the green 166
yards below. Bob combined luck and skill for this enviable outcome.
1998 Golf Season Gets Underway with a Hole-In-One by Anna Mosby
At 11:00 a.m. on May 3, 1998, long-time Lakeview member and
Loogootee resident Anna Mosby scored her first hole-in-one on the
par-three #7 hole. Driving a Spaulding Plus Extra Distance ball 90
yards from the red tees with a Northwestern 7-wood, Anna and her
husband Lloyd watched with amazement as the ball ended up in the cup
with only one stroke. Hard to tell who was more delighted (but we
know Lloyd was just a little bit jealous)!
